Anything can be a project in SAU — a shopping list, a schedule, work tasks, morning routines and habits, a workout plan. Any of your activities can become a project or a list if you start writing down what needs to be done.
A project can live and grow. It's OK to use the project as a simple to-do list at first, later you might want to add deadlines to tasks and use the calendar view, then add recurring tasks and use the tracker view, then invite friends to the project and discuss tasks in chats. SAU supports any change and evolution of the project.
A new project can be created using the projects panel.
To create a new project in SAU you only need to enter its name.
- Open the projects panel and click New project or at the bottom
- Enter the name of the project
- Press "Save"
The project is ready. Now you can fill it with tasks!
Once a project has been created, the "List" view will open where tasks can be added immediately.
The project will also appear in the projects panel at the top of the list.
When creating a project, you only need to give it a name, but later on you can optionally fill in a number of other fields.
- Project name. This is how the project will be displayed on the projects panel, in the header, in emails, etc.
- Owner. By default it is the user who created the project, but the owner can be changed. The owner of the project can delete it, archive it, manage and delete its tasks, etc.
- Team. These are the users who have access to the project. They can work on the project's tasks, add their own tasks, chat and so on.
- Description. Here you can add any extra information about the project.
- Default view. By default every project opens in the list view, but you can change this to any view. For example, if your project is about tracking habits, it can be switched to the tracker view as its default.
- Project color. This setting sets the color of the label in the projects list, and also changes the color of the task creation bar in the project.
- Show done tasks in the list. If you disable this setting, all completed tasks will be automatically hidden from the project. The tasks are not lost or deleted and can still be displayed whenever you need.
- Project template. Any project can be saved as a template that will be available to the project team. You can then quickly create a new project from the template. This is handy if, for example, you often have to create similar work projects or if you want to plan your holidays or weekends out with friends.
To make changes to the project settings, like changing its name or picking a color for the label, you need to open the project card:
- Open the projects panel and pick a project
- In the project, click in the upper right corner
- Select About the project. The project card will open
- Make necessary changes to the name, description, etc. From here you can also delete or archive the project (these functions are only available to the owner)
If you have a premium subscription, here you can also set a color for the project and save it as a project template that will be available to you and the team
- Click "Save" after you're done making changes
Only the current owner can change the owner of the project.
Important: When changing the project owner, the current owner may lose access to the project (if they are added to the team, they will still have limited access). All the assigned tasks of the current owner will be reset and automatically replaced by the new owner.
To change the owner:
- Open the projects panel and pick a project
- In the project, click in the upper right corner
- Select About the project. The project card will open
- Pick the new owner in the "Owner" field
- Press "Save" after you're done making changes
You can add collaborators to the project team whether they already use SAU or don't even have a SAU account yet.
- Open the projects panel and pick a project
- In the project, click in the upper right corner
- Select About the project. The project card will open
- Add one or more new collaborators by selecting them in the "Team" field.
When adding new collaborators, the list will show all users that are involved in any of your other projects. If the list is long, a search box will be available above the list — just enter a few letters of the name to search for someone specific
- If the person you're looking for isn't on the list, you can invite them to the project or even to join SAU by simply by entering their email - tap Add user to team and tap located at the top right corner. Type an email and tap "Send." New member will be added to the team, and the invitation will be sent to his email
- Press "Save" after you're done making changes
If you invite three or more people and they end up accepting your invitation and joining SAU, we
SAU Premium Pro.
By default every project opens in the "To-do List" view, but you can change this to any view. For example, if your project is about tracking habits, it can be switched to the "Tracker" view. To change the default view:
- Open the projects panel and pick a project
- In the project, click in the upper right corner
- Select About the project. The project card will open
- In the "Default view for the project", select the new default view for this project
- Press "Save" after you're done making changes
Now the project will always open in that view.
A color can be assigned to any project. It will be displayed in the projects list as a tag and in the project itself as the color of the task creation box.
Color coding is useful for navigating and categorizing projects. For example, the most important projects can be highlighted in red. You can assign different colors to the projects of different departments to make it easier to find your way around them. Personal projects can be highlighted in your favourite colour so that they are not confused with team projects.
To assign a color to your project:
- Open the projects panel and pick a project
- In the project, click in the upper right corner
- Select About the project. The project card will open
- In the "Project color", select the color for this project
- Press "Save" after you're done making changes
Now the project will be highlighted with this color.
Changing the project color is available to
Premium Pro subscribers.
Creating a personal template is available in the project card. Note that only the owner of the project can create a template. All data included in the project, like tasks, attachments, checklists, dates, team, assignments, colours, etc., will become part of the template. To save the project as a template, follow these steps:
- In the project, click in the top right corner
- In the menu that opens, select About the project
- Scroll down and find the button Make a template from this project. If the button isn't available, it's likely that you are not the owner of the project
- Make sure you are ready for all the project data, like tasks, assignments, checklists, descriptions, files, links, etc., to become part of the template
- Tap Yes
If a color has been selected for the project, the personal template will be assigned that color, too. The project name will become the name of the template, and the description will become the template description.
If the project has a lot of tasks, it may be convenient to hide completed tasks so that they do not get in the way. This will not affect the project statistics in any way. All tasks will still be counted on the projects list, in the analytics, dashboards and statistics.
To hide completed tasks in the project:
- Open the projects panel and pick a project
- In the project, click in the upper right corner
- Select About the project. The project card will open
- Toggle off the "Show done tasks in the list" option
- Press "Save" after you're done making changes
Now the project will always display only upcoming and overdue tasks. At the bottom of the task list you will find a "Show completed" button. Tap it to see all completed tasks.
You can copy the link to a specific project view from the application.
Important: The person receiving this link must be a member of the project team.

- Change the project view if necessary
- In the project, click in the upper right corner
- Tap "Share project link". The project card will open
- Copy the link or send it directly through any messenger, via email or other application
You can delete projects in the app.
Important: Only project owners can delete projects.
To delete a project:
- Open the projects panel and pick a project
- In the project, tap in the upper right corner
- Select About the project. The project card will open
- Tap "Delete project" at the bottom of the screen
A deleted project can be restored within 30 days via the
